Scrum
An agile framework for successful teamwork and complex developments
The Scrum Master acts as a facilitator and coach, supporting the team by removing obstacles and ensuring the Scrum process runs smoothly without directly interfering in the content of the work. The Product Owner is responsible for managing the Product Backlog—prioritizing requirements based on business goals and customer needs while ensuring clear communication with stakeholders. The developers within the Scrum team work closely with the Product Owner to implement the defined requirements independently, in order of priority, and thus efficiently.
This clearly defined role distribution, combined with a structured, iterative workflow, creates an environment that promotes collaboration and transparency, leading to high productivity and a better understanding of team goals.
Scrum is a proven framework that serves as an ideal introduction to agile working methods, placing teamwork at its core. Originally developed for software development, Scrum has now expanded far beyond this field and is used across various industries for developing complex products and services.
At its core, Scrum promotes an iterative and incremental approach. Teams work in so-called "Sprints"—short, fixed time periods in which a concrete, usable product increment is delivered. Through continuous exchange and ongoing improvement, Scrum enables teams to remain flexible and quickly adapt to changing requirements.
Agile teamwork is at the heart of Scrum: a self-organized, cross-functional team takes full responsibility for the development and delivery of the product or service.
Agile Scrum Foundation
The Agile Scrum Foundation training provides essential principles of agile working, focusing on the challenges of an increasingly dynamic and complex work environment. The key concepts are introduced through practical applications of the Scrum framework. Instead of traditional functions and positions, clearly defined roles take center stage, with their understanding and differentiation being crucial to success.
The training emphasizes cross-functional team collaboration and the development of new or the improvement of existing products and services. Upon completion, participants will be able to contribute as Developers in a Scrum team, either temporarily or permanently, effectively applying their expertise.

Agile Scrum Master / Product Owner
This training enables participants to take on both Scrum roles within a company. Although the roles of Scrum Master and Product Owner are fundamentally separate, understanding each other's responsibilities is crucial for successful product development. For example, a Scrum Master should know how a Product Backlog is structured and prioritized, while a Product Owner should understand how a Scrum Master supports the team in identifying and resolving anti-patterns.
The roles of Agile Scrum Master and Agile Product Owner are essential for the functioning of a Scrum team and agile product development within a company. Both are trained to foster team collaboration and represent agile development both internally and externally. Additionally, they understand the difference between product development and project management (DPMM®) and know how Scrum can be effectively integrated into DPMM.
The training requires prior knowledge from the Agile Scrum Foundation course, ideally also the qualification as a B.A.T. Agent. The course goes into depth and builds on additional self-study before the in-person training. The in-person training is practice-oriented and specifically prepares participants for the exam. Participants complete a work sample and take a written exam to obtain the certifications as EXIN Agile Scrum Master and EXIN Agile Product Owner (Bridge).
The training lasts three days (excluding self-study and exam preparation). The reference book is authored by Johann Botha, Senior Trainer and Consultant at Gateway2Agility.
