What is Agile-ADapT®
Agile-ADapT is a principles-based model for continuous digital transformation, developed by Johann H. Botha together with over 30 international experts.
Its aim is not only to make companies more digitally capable, but also to strengthen their long-term innovation power and adaptability.
Unlike pure digitization, Agile-ADapT answers the central question: Which products and services do customers truly want in the digital world of the 21st century – and how can a company respond to change?
The model combines proven approaches such as Lean, Agile, Jobs-To-Be-Done, First Principles Thinking, and Kaizen to help organizations understand and master digital business transformation as an ongoing process.
The 3 Phases of Agile-ADapT®
Agile-ADapT structures the transformation process into three dynamic, mutually reinforcing phases:
EXTRACT – Clarifying the company’s values, vision, and strategic direction. This phase lays the foundation for digital transformation.
EXPLORE – Developing and validating innovations through experiments, creativity, and iterative approaches. This is the heart of ADapT.
EXPAND – Adapting and scaling business models, and implementing new solutions to ensure sustainable success.
These phases are supported by nine guiding principles that serve as a compass for operational implementation.
Integrierte und neu entwickelte Modelle
Agile-ADapT builds on proven management and innovation approaches, expanding them with purpose-built tools that make transformation practical and hands-on:
The 5 Agile-ADapT® Innovation Types (Botha 2020) – A framework for classifying and prioritizing innovation approaches.
Agile-ADapT® Innovation Sprint Framework (Botha/Danker 2024) – An agile innovation process for rapid testing and implementation of ideas.
Transformation Canvas (Botha 2024) – A strategic tool for visualizing and managing transformation initiatives.
Together, these building blocks form a holistic approach to digital transformation, enabling organizations to master complex change in a structured way.
